I don't know how big it was." Homes have been broken open. And anyone or anything could be a target. One resident describes the terror. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) SLAVIANSK RESIDENT, LYUBOV SEREDA, SAYING: "You can not understand where they are shooting from. When they started shooting we and the children just had enough time to hide in the house, not even in the basement, just in the house. The first explosion was with the awful crack, the second blast made the ceiling fall on us!" She says no one is putting down arms. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) SLAVIANSK RESIDENT, LYUBOV SEREDA, SAYINGi "What ceasefire? What are you talking about? They shoot at us every day." Many are coping as best they can -- which often means learning to live without. (SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) SLAVIANSK RESIDENT, ZINAIDA LAVROVA, SAYING: "There is no water for the toilet, no water for cooking. Shops are empty. They are shooting recklessly. They don't care about people. What is our government thinking? Why do we need such a government!" Others are simply lining up to get out of town until a ceasefire takes and calm returns to Slaviansk.
