More revelations in the Etan Patz case. Norma Hernandez, the sister of suspect Pedro Hernandez says she told police 30 years ago, she believed her brother had killed the little boy. Here’s News 12.

“ Pedro Hernandez has been charged. His sister, Norma, says she reported her suspicions in the 1980s, even though she had no hard evidence. Last week, Hernandez confessed to police to killing the boy 33 years ago.”

Norma Hernandez says she told police in New Jersey her suspicions after she heard her brother had confessed at a Church group meeting. What’s not clear is whether that message got to New York City. ABC explains.

“Norma Hernandez tells "The Wall Street Journal" that she heard about his confession from other family members. it still remains unclear whether her tip ever made it to detectives in Manhattan where Patz had vanished.”

The New Jersey Star-Ledger reports Hernandez’s story has not been corroborated, and the police chief of Camden, New Jersey, where Hernandez says she reported the crime said it was quote “the first he’d heard of Hernandez’s comments.” If Hernandez’s story is true, police might have missed a big opportunity.

“The Star-Ledger and other publications have reported many of his relatives suspected his involvement in a child killing, based on self-incriminating comments he made as far back as 1980. But Norma Hernandez’s statements today suggest she was the first among relatives to go to the police.”

Pedro Hernandez confessed to killing Patz on May 25 -- exactly 33 years after Patz vanished.
