(Image source: The New York Times ) BY COLLIN RUANE ANCHOR NATHAN BYRNE An investigation by U.S. security firm Mandiant pinpoints hacking of sensitive American data to an army building in Shanghai. The firm published a report Tuesday. In the report, Mandian says it conducted “hundreds of investigations” that show the hacking “activities are based primarily in China.” The report also says the Chinese government knows about the hacking. Mandiant adds over 100 organizations around the world are reported to have been victims of hacking from this building. Fox News points out it won’t be easy for the Chinese military to fight these allegations. STEVE DOOCY: “And the evidence they’ve got is pretty damning. They’ve been able to trace 141 of these hacks to the army building in Shanghai.” ERIC BOLLING: “This is the new battlefront. This cyberwarfare.” The Washington Post reports this all comes at a time when company-targeted cyber-attacks are on the rise. Even Google chairman Eric Schmidt has referred to China as the “world’s number-one hacker” in his new book. Schmidt adds that hacking from China hurts our economy. And there is evidence to back up claims that China has a significant hacking background. According to CNN , a number of American news organizations have become victims of hacking. They also detail what the government plans to do. “In recent weeks, The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal have disclosed that their computer networks had been targeted by hackers in China. … Earlier this month, President Obama signed an executive order designed to address the country's most basic cybersecurity needs.” The Chinese military denies any involvement in hacking U.S. cyberspace.
