(Image source: RT )     BY ZACH TOOMBS     Russian authorities began cleaning up the mess left by a meteor that rained down over the Ural Mountains Friday morning.   Al Jazeera reports Russia’s state government dispatched about 20,000 workers to the Chelyabinsk territory where the meteor fell. Among other jobs, those workers are tasked with repairing several buildings with blown out windows.   The shockwave that did that damage, captured here in amateur video posted to YouTube , also injured about 950 people, most of them hurt by broken glass.   Vadim Kolesnikov, an interior ministry spokesman, says at least 300 buildings sustained some sort of damage from the falling meteor. That includes a zinc factory with a collapsed roof, along with damaged schools, hospitals and even an ice hockey rink.   Russia’s RT posted photos of the site where the central government believes the meteor made its final landing, creating a hole in the iced-over Cherbarkul Lake. Divers are still combing the lake for shards of the meteorite.   All the while, a larger asteroid made its way past the Earth, just slipping between us and the moon Friday. Although the Russia meteor had sparked fears the asteroid known as DA14 could make similar landfall, the Telegraph quotes the U.K. Space Agency as promising it was "not related to asteroid 2012 DA14."   Instead, the asteroid sped by harmlessly. Perhaps the best images were captured by Samford Valley Observatory in Brisbane, Australia as the asteroid reached its closest point to Earth around 2:25 p.m. eastern time Friday.
