Learn how scientists have come up with ways to make it easier for kids to have veggies. Are you worried about your kids' eating habits? A new study tested various methods by which that endeavor can be made easier.Researchers tried to mask the unsavory taste by adding different ingredients including salt, but straight, traditional sugar worked best. The preliminary studies revealed that when preschoolers were served veggies that were sprayed with a mist of sugar, they ate more than the other children who were given unsweetened vegetables A professor at the University of Connecticut's Department of Nutritional Sciences warns parents to only use a small amount of sugar, only enough to counter the bitter taste. The method shouldn’t be a long term approach to healthy eating and the sugar enhancement should only be used long enough to get a child accustomed to vegetables.Another recent study revealed that children are more likely to consume their veggies if they are cooked for only 6-8 minutes. The kids, aged between 5 and 6 claimed that the taste of broccoli and cauliflower was better if they were cooked for a medium duration.
