Dr. Neal Schultz: Hello, I'm Dr. Neal Schultz, and welcome to the DermTV.
By now most of you know the important place on daily facial exfoliation, but when using chemical exfoliants like glycolic, or even Retin-A related products regardless of what you're doing them just for facial rejuvenation to make your face look smoother and brighter and more lustrous are you doing it to help prevent acne breakouts or even just as a prep before applying a self tanner. These chemical exfoliants can make you a little bit more vulnerable to irritation from any thing rough that rubs against your face and believe it or not that includes your boyfriend or husbands face when it's several hours after he is shaved and he has obligatory mild razor stubble.
Fortunately the irritation that occurs as mild usually consisting of just little bit of pinkness may be a little bit of redness and perhaps the slight burning sensation. Fortunately it suit very easily with non-converted compresses with over-the-counter, cortisone, ointments, or creams 1% or even within over the counter antibiotic ointment like bacitracin ointment. Now if this becomes a recurring problem for you, you might consider lowering the strength of your glycolic or retin-A related product and if that doesn't resolve the problem you might consider changing a boyfriend just kidding.
