Rebecca Brayton: Because it's been around so long, you have probably either driven, ridden in, or owned a Ford Taurus. Hi! I am Rebecca Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com and today we will be learning more about the past and future of this American car.
The Ford Taurus is one of those iconic American cars. Can you just kind of outline the history a bit for us?
Billy Rodrigues: Taurus, when we launched back in 1985 and 1986, it was quite revolutionary in terms of what was going on in that D class segment with its sweeping lines and its great looks quickly became the best selling car in the United States. Over time more competition came in and the car kind of lost a bit of its lustre up until the more recent past where we came out, we changed the name to 500, then we changed it back to Taurus again based on the heritage and the authenticity of that brand. But truly the new car, the 2010 is set to change and revolutionize that D class segment again in terms of the overall drive, the dynamics, the quality of the materials, the levels of technology that are in this car.
Rebecca Brayton: You mentioned some of the features that the Taurus is going to have, can you kind of go into specifics about each of those?
Billy Rodrigues: The team went out and they really made the car look aggressive and muscular and interface yet refined, it has a very high belt line for once you actually sit down in the car, the windows are quite high so you actually feel coddled and you feel very safe and very secure. Which builds upon how safe the car is, it's America's safest vehicle right now. And also things like stance, it's a lot more, it's a little bit wider, it has standard 18 inch wheels, 19 inch and 20s great power train, 263 horsepower, the 6-V transmission. But it's not just the outside, the outside will command your attention and it's what gets customer come, oh wow, what kind of car is that. But then you also have to tie the entire with the exterior, the quality of materials, things like heated and cold seats, we have a new multi-contour seat which actually provides heat and massage, voice activated navigation systems with 8 inch screen, synch technology, everything has been touched, everything has been changed. I can just keep going on and on.
