Female: I’m still in Philadelphia and I’ve got to tell you something about this place. It has more public art than any other city in America. I love it. There are 3000 murals in this city, they’re everywhere. They’re a great source of inspiration for the next space I’m going to paint over. This is the Rivera – Center, for more than 50 years, this place has provided afterschool fun for thousands of kids from the neighborhood. The folks here have asked me to design a room for the afterschool programs. Thanks for coming.
Male: It’s good to be here.
Female: The mural art program is amazing. How did it get started?
Male: It started out as an anti graffiti network and it’s really neat to see how it evolved into what it is today.
Female: You can really tell that the art transforms the neighborhood. I love it.
Male: It really makes a difference.
Female: So how about we get your stuff and get inside and start painting? So how much time do you guys usually get when you work on a mural?
Male; Usually depends on the size of the mural, sometimes a month, sometimes three months.
Female: So I’m really glad I’m going to paint. You guys like the quote?
Male: That’s a pretty powerful quote and I like it a lot.
Female: I’m going to get Brian and see what he thinks.
Male: Wow. Are we in the same room?
Female: I love it.
Male: This is phenomenal, I love the quote too.
Female: It’s really powerful. You now have 10 brand new computers.
Male: It’s going to be more conducive for the kids who want to come back here, it will be more excited about getting on the computer and-
Female: And this loosely translates as there are no bad kids, only kids that choose to use their free time badly or poorly.
