A rare coin appears in a Salvation Army red kettle again for the 8th year in a row. Holiday season means christmas lights, decorations as well as the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle buckets.For the past eight years, an unknown male in Southwest Florida has been dropping a rare and valuable coin into the red containers anonymously. The mystery man made an appearance again this year, dropping a 1907 gold coin, valued at $1,700 into a bucket. The bell ringer believes he would recognize him if he saw him again, describing the man as a white male in 40s, medium height with red hair. Every single year, the coin comes with handwritten note which states “In loving memory of Mimi”. Salvation Army officials claim they would love to sit down and meet the generous man and hear all about Mimi. Recently another giving soul is playing the part of a secret Santa. The anonymous Good Samaritan walked into a WalMart in Arizona and payed off 20 layaway bills, focusing on accounts that contained toys. A Walmart employee states “It's emotional for us, too"."Some of the people that I work with in layaway, when they see individuals come to pick up their layaways, they're crying. And they tell their story, how it's helping them."
