Time to pack up the Union Jack flags. The four-day-long Diamond Jubilee celebration honoring Queen Elizabeth II has come to an end.

The Queen smiled and waved to the crowd as people cheered beneath the balcony, smiling up at her. Many sported flags and other Union Jack paraphernalia to celebrate her 60 years on the throne.

During her final address to the crowds, the Queen showed much emotion as she waved to the crowds. One reporter from Sky News says he thinks he knows what brought on the emotions.

“I thought it was the salute that did it...I thought it was the ‘Hip Hip Hooray’ from the guards, that brought the emotion on.”

As with all Royal occasions, the Queen’s dress was one key topic of discussion. Most critics had good things to say about the mint green and silver dress, designed by Angela Kelly. Here’s the Daily Mail with more.

“The Queen looked utterly majestic this morning as she arrived at St. Paul’s for her thanksgiving service to the sound of [peeling] cathedral bells and a sea of waving Union flags.”

The celebrations were subdued somewhat by the absence of the queen’s husband, Prince Philip, who was diagnosed with a bladder infection and is still hospitalized. Piers Morgan said on Good Morning America that he thinks Prince Philip will pull through.

“He’s a tough guy, it was brutal out there on Sunday wasn’t it? My co-anchor Brooke, she was taken to the hospital with hypothermia, seriously! So it was a ghastly day.”

Believe it or not, the BBC says it might not be the last jewel in the queen’s crown.

“And it’s possible of course, that we say we may not see this again in our lives, we may have another jubilee in ten years, the Platinum Jubilee, when the Queen is 96.” “Okay, alright, let’s get over this one first!”
