Right but now open our image in Camera Raw, we’re just going to get to a few of these settings. With the temperature, I’m going to play around the slider and just see if we can just cool it down a little bit. I want to try and get a nice blue in the sky, but also I’ll try to keep the warmth from the torch as well.
So we’ll load a little play there and I think that’s probably going to be a good balance there. We can always go in afterwards with Photoshop and fine tune it a bit more, and exposure. Now when I use the exposure slider, I only hold on the alt key so we hold on the alt key and grab the slider there, you can see what’s clipping, what’s burning out on the highlights and we’ve got a fire bit there and so we don’t want that to go to far. So we’re just going to pull it back a little bit. So we’re just going to cut, completely burning out and then use a recovery slider, again hold on the alt key and then we can just re-pull the recovery slider over a little bit and just recover a few more high lights so I think that’s pretty, looks pretty good.
And for your light, I don’t follow with that normally. I shouldn’t need to use that unless you got a real problem image. Blacks, hold on the alt key again and again it is a night time shot so it’s going to be pretty dark in the background there so we’re just pull it downwards. Some of the blacks are blocked up but not all them. I’d rather take an image into Photoshop that slightly flat than having too much contrast in it. So with the contrast slider, here’s one here, I’ll put up a little bit but you know all I said, I’d prefer to be a bit flat and always add the contrast when we’re in Photoshop. So we’ll just have a little play around with that but I don’t want it some actually spot I will roll on it and a little bit flat. So that is about fine. Brightness, we can just bring brightness up a little bit, like so.
Again, we can always darken it down but I wanted to take this image into Photoshop and fairly flat and fairly well exposed. I’m not looking to make so far individual adjustments here and I wanted to make it global adjustments and take into Photoshop. There’s much detail as possible and again, not with too much contrast. So I think that’s about it.
The clarity, we can always play around that as well and but I’ll just leave it around 10. And next, luminance I’ve got it set on 10. That’s just to reduce any bit of noise, we should may have in the sky here. But we shot this at 200 ISO and on the 1 DS. You’re not really get anything you have to worry about. I kind of—at 25 so we can get rid of any color noise in the image.
And the reds, now we don’t play with the hue slider and the red channel here just bring out a bit more red in the chimney there, that looks really better. And again the saturation, we’ll just rock up the saturation a bit there. Again, don’t want to go too far you can always do that but more in Photoshop. And luminance, I’ve done it, that’s going to make a little on difference there, just bring it up a little bit.
And again for the greens here, we’ll have a quick look and see what we can do with those. I’m going to make it a huge difference, I don’t think, so we’ll leave that, I think we will leave those. We can get a bit of difference in the saturation and luminance. We’re just putting the greens down a bit on that.
I think the biggest improvement I’m going to see is in the yellows. There’s a lot of yellows in this picture. So we just change the hue slightly. I’m going to pretty much leave it where it is minus 5 is going to slightly more warm rather than and gray which I would prefer, yup. Saturation there I believe that is in the luminance there. Yeah, we’ll need that about more than 16.
Okay so, move on now as split tone, we don’t want to know. Defringe all edges and we’ll just vignette this, vignette the edges on this slightly a little bit, if you look at the edge at the frame there, I’m just going to drag this down. Again this isn’t something we do in Photoshop, sometimes I’ll do it here as well. So we just move that down a little but like I said you’re going to do that in Photoshop if you want to darken those edges but we’ll just move that a little bit. And that is about it so now what we got to do is click on open image and that will open our image, ready for us to do our further adjustments.
