The PlayStation Vita was released in the United States to a plethora of glowing reviews. Finally a gaming device that brought the PS3 experience to your bus rides, your workplace and even your bathroom breaks. A writer for CNET had this to say .
 

“There’s no doubt about it, the Vita is the most advance portable gaming system I have ever seen.”


But within the first week of Vita’s release, users encountered a major error with the Vita’s Facebook app.
 

Sony pulled the app from the PlayStation Store after numerous users reported it displayed an error code during sign-in, which forced the app to shut down. According to Engadget, Sony says the error is a “Facebook specific issue (on their side) … ”
 

Joystiq quotes one of Sony’s reps …
 

“We are currently looking into this to restore it to normal operational status. We will announce further details when ready.”


But was the Facebook app itself really worth it? Initial reviews suggested the app suffered from excessive lag issues, which got a writer for PS4 Vlog to say...


“Overall it’s a horrible app. Do not download it. Who cares it’s free. It’s a piece of crap. Don’t waste your time on this. Save your 18 megabyte storage for a DLC download.”


Vita is Latin for life. A writer for PlayStation Lifestyle asks a philosophical question. Just how important is Facebook in a gamer’s life — or in a gamer’s Vita?
 

“While yes, this must certainly be a nuisance for some, shouldn’t gamers be too busy playing all of the platform’s fantastic launch games? Hmm… stalk my friends on Facebook or play Uncharted: Golden Abyss … that’s a tough one.”


As of Saturday, Sony has not announced when the Facebook app will back up on the PlayStation Store.
