Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I'm your host Derrick Schommer. Today were creating the Pink Kitty. This is submitted by Ryan and it’s got a different name. It starts with P ends with Y can get in a couple of lessons U in there. I like to make cocktails that everybody could drink and that everybody can have but it certain means that make it kind of difficult to publish and promote. This will be one of them. So we’re going to call it the Pink Kitty and this guy has lot of stuff in it, all kind of cool stuffs.
We’re going to have some tequila, so we’re going to do; let's start with the main ingredients. Two ounces of limon rum, we’re using Don Q limon or anything that you have as a citrus rum probably will be fine. We’re going to do an ounce of grand marnier and we’re going to do an ounce of tequila. We’re using celo, tequila’s, this is--I like this tequila. It also got a very cool bottle, good tequila’s in a cool bottle can't get wrong.
A dash or really a slow poor for coloring, cranberry juice and four ounces of sweet sour, and what we’re going to do is it--the recipe says build in a column glass, shake it near the final when we’re finally finish the built but that can get messy. Column glass is kind of tall, so what we’re going to do is build in a regular mixing glass get it one shake, pour everything, ice and everything into our columns, seems pretty easy. So let's -- we also want to pour it over the ice, we’ll do that. That’s probably too much ice for column glass that will do maybe a little less.
All right, so we’ll do two ounces of our rum, get that done, two ounces of--oh I'm sorry one ounce of grand marnier. Once our stopper gets stuck, here it go. So know you’re getting something with citrus and orange and I chose the silver tequila, doesn’t really call of ounce of tequila. They of course recipes typically call for Cuervo Gold, Cuervo is the best of all. I refused to drink it. So if that’s all you have in your country, use that. We’ll do the splash after. Then what we’re going to do, we’re going to fill it here, is fill it with sweet sour of four ounces. You know let just do a measured four ounces. Since were not building in columns, it makes you kind of hard to tell. So it's going to be quick fall and what we’ll do is pull whatever we can. It might not all fit in and you get two drinks for the price of one.
And then, we’ll take this cranberry to flavor it to get the -- or to color it. To get a good pink texture, that should work, you’ll see. And then we’ll shake it, let's get one shake. There’s your pink. You want more pink? Fine, you can put more, more cranberry. Let's check this out, we’ll do this.
Now it's getting—it gets more pink. Pour it here and you’ve got your Pink Kitty with a little frostiness on the top. Let’s try that, smells really good. Try and place it like a classical orange juice. Initial taste that I'm getting tequila just the taste of the tequila not like any--not like a real hint of tequila. Almost like a margarita and then some enhanced citrus from the rum. Oddly enough, the rum is not really predominant in here because of the tequila the way it cuts right through, the sweet sour, and the grand marnier which a lot people would use in a margarita. You’re going to—and people who drink a lot of margaritas are instantly I think margarita. And then you get that extra citrusy acidic kick near the end just a little over the top not as sour as you might get in the margarita.
So there you go that is you’re Pink Kitty. Let's try it one more time, that’s pretty good and refreshing. Anyway check us out on everydaydrinkers.TV, leave some us some comments. I love to hear comments and feedback about the show.
