Pen and Marker Holder Demonstration

Natalie: Hi. It’s Natalie.

Miranda: And Miranda from Custom Crops. And today we have a special guest with us. And we are so excited she’s here, Amy Chomas. She is the creator of the mini gel pen and the marker holder for your cricket. The marker and gel pen holders are actually one of our hottest products this season. They are flying off the shelves; I know you love hearing that. So, it’s super hot. Anyway you might already have one or maybe you are thinking about getting one and Amy is going to help us with any questions that we might have. So, first of all what made you come out with this product or you think I have this part maybe.

Amy: Well I could see some of the girls in the internet were using the cushy grips on them and I’m like, they just look way too hard. So, I showed my husband and I said can you make me something to do this. He’s like of course I can. You know he’s a machinist and so I could not figure out where to find the mini pens, I’ve Google it and I search on the internet and ask some ladies and they told me where to find them and they found out that I was making them for a pen holder and ask me if possibly my husband would make one for them as well.

Natalie: Wow!

Miranda: Wow!

Amy: Yeah, and all of a sudden it’s up to 20 women and 40 and it just boomed from there.

Miranda: That’s wonderful.

Natalie: Oh my Gosh. So, Miranda, when people are looking for these on our website, what are they under?

Miranda: Well Amy,

Amy: They are actually under Chomas creations.

Natalie: Okay. So, you may have seen our previous video on the gel pen and marker holders. Maria, one of our design team put this together and put written down instructions, kind of like a tutorial that you can find on our website. If you’re like looking for those, you can certainly find those there but Amy is going to show us step by step how to use them today. So, let’s get started.

So, the first that thing that Amy is going to help us what is to create this little topper for our jar and you might have seen this already in the previous video that we did. This is our jar project video and it is a little high, and a jar. And if you want to see how we created that, you can just reference that video on your YouTube channel. But Amy is going to show us how she used the sharpie markers to make this little snowflake on top, it’s really cute.

Amy: Sounds good. I do like the sharpie markers more with glossy surfaces such as the quick cuts chipboard. There’s some quick cut metal out there, there’s also some clear adhesive sheets paper cuts but I also one in a glossy surface it tends to right better for sure. I'm starting with the, like I said the quick cut chipboard. I do have a deep cut laid in and I having my multi cut too because it’s really not that bad and I'm using plant in with this. I do like it; it’s a very basic font. But it also has all your basic shape as well. I'm going to make a circle, it two and a half inches.

Natalie: So, you would say this a cartridge you would recommend or…

Amy: Oh for sure, I actually paid a lot of money for it when it first came out. I like it so much. And now you can really get him cheap on Custom Crops. So, I'm going to do like I said is circle, two and a half inches. It’s already on multi-cut; I have my deep cut laid in five in my pressure mix out.

Natalie: And the white chipboard shapes that Amy is using is like she said by quick cuts. We have this on our website; they are 4 by 12 and adhesive backed sheets which is nice. You don’t have to worry about getting any glue or anything. They going to cut right in your cricket and it comes with eighteen sheets and it retails around $5.00 so, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this product.

Miranda: That is amazing.

Amy: Okay, back to our little project here. I am going to hit load paper which will send me right back to where I started from. I do not want to, I going to use the snowflake from when it’s cold outside, your limited edition.

Miranda: Oh cool!

Natalie: Yes. These cartridges are awesome and this by the way, I want to mention again. I know we’ve seen these before that they are limited edition they are going to be gone before you know it. I know some retailers are already out of them. So, if you are interest in this and they have a great price point, they are around $15.00, so definitely check those out.

Amy: So, what is limited edition mean there Miranda?

Miranda: They are limited, honey.

Natalie: They are all going to be gone soon.

Amy: Once they’re gone though that’s it?

Natalie: That’s it.

Amy: It’s not like some other cartridges where go backward and they come back in once where are out and they are out. And they have been of super popular. So, they are running probably short, I mean people are just buying them like crazy. So really if you want them, you need to get on our website and grab all.

Natalie: For sure they’re not going to be around forever, so in beyond and up.

Amy: Okay. So, I'm going to put in what is cold outside and because I cannot turn the machine off, where it will eject my paper. I'm just going to swap out cartridges when it’s on. I’ve never have a problem with it so I’m going to continue to do it. There are four things I want you to know when we are using the markers with the blade and that is, you don’t want to unload your paper. Your lines will not line back up.

Natalie: Okay.

Amy: You’ve don’t want to move the blade housing when you’re using it. Because that also will move your blade lines won’t line up. You also want to use a scrap paper when you are putting, you are marker in.

Natalie: Yeah.

Miranda: So that doesn’t accidentally put a mark on what you working on.

Amy: Yeah. Okay I need that.

Amy: So, there's some scrap paper that magically appeared. And the last tip I have is after you beat your marker holder in here is to make sure you get your pressured it down to either medium or low. Or even actually I'm using thicker materials. So, I'm going to go all the way to minimum.

Natalie: And why did you do that Amy?

Amy: That is because I have smashed the tips of some of my sharpie markers with higher pressure, it will literally yeah.

Natalie: And then your done they are unusable.

Amy: your just use their unusable.

Natalie: Well you don’t get the fine point.

Amy: Okay got it.

Natalie: Okay.

Amy: So, definitely it’s not a good thing. I had just want offset my snow flake. I am by no means going to line this up because this is just for fun I'm going to pick one of these snow flakes and I’m going to make it a little smaller. I’m going to only have one on three quarters. And I do get like to use multi-cut when I'm using the sharpies because it will just give you nice finish lines. And take the cut button. And now so you could do even writing on there as well. So, if that you are using your design studio.

For sure, And that is one of my favorite things to do is to add different font unto my project.

And now you could see in the first time around, it didn’t really make a nice dark image but.

Natalie: It’s like do multi...

Amy: And I want the writing again to go back for that and that’s great for people to start and maybe they don’t love their hand writing on.

Miranda: Definitely.

Amy: It’s like the perfect writing from one of the cartridges. For sure I'm going to unload this and there you have it. Okay. Let’s put it on the jar. Off course this is a sharpie and it might take a minute to dry. So, I would just be careful.

Natalie: Right.

Miranda: Do not touch our little snowflake there.

Amy Right and it will pretty much mark in any surface.
