A flight attendant gave passengers aboard an American Airlines flight leaving Dallas/Ft. Worth more than just peanuts — she gave them a scare straight out of the movies. As CNN reports, the flight attendant started ranting about 9/11 as the flight was about to take off.

“As the plane was taxiing down the runway, a flight attendant grabbed the loud speaker and went into a tirade saying the plane was going to crash.”


The attendant had to be restrained by passengers after what one witness called “demonic screams.” Here’s video of the ordeal, courtesy of CBS.

The Dallas Observer says another flight attendant came over and tried to subdue the passengers by saying everything was okay. Then, once again, the flight attendant in question got back on the PA and ominously stated...

“Captain, I will not be responsible for the plane crashing.”

Witnesses say the attendant appeared to have a mental condition. One of the passengers who helped to restrain her told ABC News...

"She was in a manic-type state. When she said, when she told me she was bipolar. That's when I knew she's just lost it."

This incident comes just a month after a JetBlue flight attendant was kicked off a flight for being drunk and unruly. A columnist for The Stir says flying is scary enough , and employing unstable flight attendants is irresponsible.

“But it seems to me that psychological competence is a crucial part of becoming a flight attendant. Imagine if there HAD been an emergency, then what? How could she have helped?”

The flight attendant was taken to the hospital. American Airlines hasn’t released her name. The flight was taken back to the gate and delayed for nearly an hour and a half before it landed safely in Chicago.
