Kate Winslet is one of the most talented actresses of her generation and is known for playing a wide range of diverse characters during her illustrious career. The star know stranger to accolades having one at SAG, BAFTA and Golden Globes in addition to Grammy Award and in Emmy. After six Academy Award nominations, Winslet took home an Oscar in 2009 for her performance in The Reader but she wasn’t always about the gleets and the glamour. Kate Winslet was born in Reading, England. She began studying drama at the age of 11 and appeared in a Sugar Puff cereal commercial but she was bullied from her weight from a very young age which began a lifetime of struggle with weight issues.

However, Kate’s great talent for acting out way her insecurities and she began appearing more regularly on television making a few shows with the BBC in the early 90’s. Her real break out role came when she won a star role in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures over 175 other girls. She lived up to screen with the performance which guarded her and praised and a few prestigious awards.

The attention let her to more prestigious roles in films like Sense and Sensibility, Jude and Hamlet but her real agenda to superstardom came after being chosen to play the lead in a little movie called Titanic. You may have heard. The commercial success of Titanic segmented her status a venofied box office hit with some serious name recognition. After Titanic, Kate Winslet has had her pick of great parts all very diverse in nature. Single mother, World War II code wreaker, authors, muse and filthy mouth harems with a few failed relationships and one former marriage to Director Jim Threapleton with whom she has a daughter she married Director Sam Mendes in 2003 who also directed her, in her Golden Glove winning performance in revolutionary road.

The pair who have one son Joe announced their split in March 2010. The media has always talked about Kate’s weight fluctuations over the years but she has been out spoken about not letting Hollywood dictate her weight or self image. She is publicly denounced any airbrushing in magazines and is a champion for women’s body issues in show business. But Kate Winslet is much more than that mother, actress singer. She remained one of the treasures shot in the silver screen with beauty and brains to match.
