Another important part of the ribbon is the Quick Access Toolbar. Microsoft did not give us the ability to customize the ribbon but what they did give us is a Quick Access Toolbar. And if you cruise up here to the top of your screen, you can click to customize the Quick Access Toolbar or you can right quick to get this similar set of commands. If you choose More Commands, you will see a dialog box here that allows you to add almost anything to the Quick Access Toolbar. You can choose toolbar commands from the popular commands list or what I like to do is choose all commands so I can see everything that is available and then I can scroll down this list and I can choose any of the tools that I want to add to my Quick Access Toolbar.
For example, I really like to add the Close Button to my quick access toolbar. So I click Close and click Add and then simply choose Okay. And now, you can see that the Close Button has appeared on my Quick Access Toolbar. You can show the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon so click here and choose Show below the Ribbon and that moves your Quick Access Toolbar beneath the ribbon. That gives you the whole width of the screen to add tools. Another thing to know is that you can actually right click any tool on any ribbon and add it to the Quick Access Toolbar very easily. So for example, maybe I want to add a new slide button to the Quick Access Toolbar. I would right click it on the ribbon and choose Add the Quick Access Toolbar. And now, you can see that my new slide button has appeared on the Quick Access Toolbar. So, I have it available at anytime. I do not have to be on the Home Tab in order to add a new slide now.
