Audra Lowe: Right, its time now to transition your kids from all those bulky winter clothes to spring. And Rhiannon is showing us how to get the kids closet organized and ready for the new season.

Rhiannon Ally: We don't need a professional organizer to tell us this closet is a mess. But when you're dealing with a child, it's hard to keep things neat. Lisa Zazlow is going to show us how to organize our kids' closet for spring and beyond. Now Lisa, what's the first thing we need to do with this closet?

Lisa Zazlow: This shelf is a problem because it makes it impossible to hang things properly on the bar. You can't see what's back there. So the first thing is to get rid of this shelf.

Rhiannon Ally: You could use the shelf to store off season clothes if you prefer to leave it in. But we decided to remove it. With the shelf gone, we can now see the clothes much easier, especially once Lisa makes labels.

Lisa Zazlow: These are great for keeping their clothes organized in your closet. So it's really easy to remember where do the pants go? Where do the jackets go? Where do the shirts go so that you keep similar items together and they are really neat, easy to find on your closet round.

Rhiannon Ally: Next, we moved on to the remaining shelves.

Lisa Zazlow: We want to separate it so the colors that they wear most often are on the shelves that they can easily grab.

Rhiannon Ally: And for a little boy, t-shirts are going to be most what he would grab, especially with spring approaching.

Lisa Zazlow: Exactly! So we'll put his t-shirts on the bottom shelf so he can reach them; pants are pretty good where they are.

Rhiannon Ally: This is also a good time to take a good look at what your child has. Put stuff that no longer fits off to the side. And once again, label each shelf to make it easy to find stuff. Lisa, the shelves look great, but we still have a mess down here at the bottom of the closet. We need your help.

Lisa Zazlow: We've got a mixture of shoes, slippers, hats. We've got some bins so we can separate them out. We have got a great hook that we can use to organize the caps. We've got some clothes to be given away, and we'll get a nice bag for that to remind mom to bring those clothes and donate them that don't fit anymore.
