Taking care of the men and women who take care of America. President Barak Obama unveiled a five-point plan on Friday to improve a broad range of services for U.S. military veterans - services the U.S. has struggled to keep up with as more troops return home from foreign wars. SOUNDBITE: U.S. President Barack Obama saying: "When we talk about fulfilling our promises to all who serve, we're not just talking about a few years, we're talking about decades, for as long as you and your families walk the earth." Obama's plan would increase budgeting for veterans' resources, improve healthcare, attack homelessness, increase educational and employment resources, and reduce the backlog in disability claims. SOUNDBITE: U.S. President Barack Obama saying: "After years of military service you shouldn't have to wait for years for the benefits you've earned." Traveling to Orlando, Florida with his wife, Michelle, Obama also unveiled a national "action plan" for tackling veterans' mental health issues including research for PTSD and brain injuries. Both he and the first lady have made veterans' issues a top priority in the White House. But Florida, too, is a crucial battleground for his fellow Democrats and veterans remain an important voting bloc for both parties.
