President Obama and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney dueled it out in Ohio on Thursday.  The President says it’s the same old song from Romney and the Republicans.  Here’s the BBC . 

 

“Governor Romney and the Republicans who run congress believe if you simply take away regulations, and cut taxes by trillions of dollars the market will solve all of our problems on its own.  If you believe that, you should vote for them.”

 

Obama went on to talk about his plan for the economy — saying he wants to improve America’s schools, create energy independence, and invest in research and innovation. 

 

A headline for a column in The Washington Post reads   “Obama Offers Vigorous Defense of Presidency.”

 

But critics like Mr. Romney say he’s just rehashing what he said four years ago. 

 

When talking about President Obama, Romney used the same theme he’s been using for a while now. Here’s WKRC.

 

“Talk is cheap, actions speak loudly.”

 

And when talking about his own economic plan, Romney says he wants higher wages and less regulation on new businesses.

 

“I want more good jobs for the American people, and I want such competition for good workers that salaries and wages go up so people make more money. I want to help the middle class of America, and I’m going to do it.”

 

Romney also ripped Obamacare and talked about the failed stimulus. Whether or not the government should pump out more money to help create jobs is a debate that will continue as the election gets closer.

 

On Fox News Neil Cavuto and Ohio Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich, go back and forth on what the federal government’s role should be in getting America working again.

 

Kucinich: “We have a legal of unemployment that is unacceptable. We have to get America back to work. We cannot rely on the banks to save us. Government is going to have to spend money to prime the pump of the economy.

 

Cavuto:  Why, if it hasn’t worked?

 

Ohio is a top battleground state - and politicos say its 18 electoral votes will be pivotal in November.
