Looking more like a Broadway act than a retail store, Saks Fifth Avenue launches its 2012 holiday season window displays with a light show, "Snowflake Spectacular". SOUNDBITE: Harry Cunningham, senior vice president, store design, planning and visual merchandising of Saks Fifith Avenue, saying (English): "We have a life-sized snow globe, we have life-sized kaleidoscopes, we have some exciting technology that actually allows the people that are outside seeing the windows to become snowflakes in one of the windows." Transforming store fronts into elaborate seasonal displays has long been a tradition in Manhattan, with each store trying to outdo the next. SOUNDBITE: Harry Cunningham, senior vice president, store design, planning and visual merchandising of Saks Fifith Avenue, saying (English): "I think it's friendly competition but certainly fierce for sure." Bloomingdale's joined forces with Cirque du Soleil for its display. While at Macy's, the world's largest department store, two themed exhibits stretch across an entire city block. And all the variety and sparkle is bound to strike a chord with window shoppers.
