So now that we’re going into evening, this is where we can go with individual colors or a palette. Obviously, palettes are very easy to do and to work with. You can have all the color basically chosen for you. It always runs as excess powder, you just take off the excess. Close your eyes. You apply the full color to the whole lid and take the lighter one always. It also depends on the brushes that you use. You use to got use a thicker, wider brush to get the whole area and as you go darker, you can use smaller brush for control.
So the tools that you used are very important when you’re creating a smoky look. Can I take a little bit of a darker color and I start blending it over the lid. Start creating depth so it goes in the lower lid basically into the crease and to the corner of the eye. Then I go straight to the black because that’s going to make it the smoky and the point is to be messy and the key to a smoky look is in the blending. It’s not blended properly; it’s going to look like two black eyes so you really have to blend very well. So you apply with the smaller brush and then you take the larger brush to blend it really, really, really well and as you can see, it’s really quick. You just apply the color and you blend it.
The other thing you have to be careful of is the excess powder that falls. As much as you try to take off the powder from the brush, there’s still a little bit that it goes down. So you just always lead them with the Q-tip or with your finger, just take away the excess.
