(Image Source: F ilm Magic ) BY KERRY LEARY Lil Wayne is known for his controversial lyrics that are pretty offensive at times but many believe he’s crossed the line after inappropriately referencing Emmett Till...  a 14-year-old African American boy brutally murdered in Mississippi in 1955 for allegedly whistling at or flirting with a white woman. Lil Wayne’s lyrics are sexually explicit in reference to Till — but they are so explicit we’ve chosen not to repeat them here. Till’s cousin spoke out about the lyrics on RapRadar.com. “We found it dishonorable to his name and what his death has meant to us as a people and as a culture. It was offensive.” At his funeral, Till’s mother insisted on an open casket to expose how he was killed. Rolling Stone has more about what happened to Till. “He was beaten, had an eye gouged out and was shot in the head before his body was thrown into the Tallahatchie River, weighted down with a cotton-gin fan tied to him with barbed wire. The two men put on trial, including the husband of the woman Till allegedly whistled at, were acquitted...” In that interview with RapRadar, Till’s cousin explained she’s also concerned —  about the message the lyrics send to young people who listen to the artist’s music. As for the song that references Till — called “Karate Chop” — it was leaked over the weekend. Lil Wayne’s label, Epic, is trying to take the remix off the internet —  and they insist the official version of the song will not contain the hurtful lyrics.
