Male: So we’re going to make what they call sugar syrup dissolved with there. The syrup is just equal parts sugar on water.
Female: A lot of sugar.
Male: Yeah, oh well I'm good. I like wines sweet. And then we’re going what they call. So I’ve got some cinnamon, I’ve got some cloves, look at them. See on that?
Female: Beautiful.
Male: And then we’ve got these great carbon seas. And the carbon is not really used a lot around this time of the year but we smell that.
Female: Oh my God, it smells delicious.
Male: I just don’t want to kind these over to you, and put you there, okay. And I want you to do is just give a couple of big sticks of cinnamon in there and like about five handful each in that. I don’t see, depending on how, so what fragrant you’re wanting to be. Oh the spices, okay?
So while you’re doing that, I'm going to then add a whole bottle of red wine because we really want to get the palette side. And then we’re going to put in a cup of brandy and I'm going to eyeball the brandy because you know, depends that code is outside but that’s about that much. Then we’ll have some sliced lemons, oranges and around that much into the pot.
But then there’s a secret ingredient that I'm going to change the traditional method of making old wine.
Female: I'm ready.
Male: You’re right here with me, rosemary and vanilla.
Female: Really?
Male: Yeah. So what we do --
Female: Well vanilla comes free.
Male: Just take a whole sprig of rosemary stick in there. And then have you ever seen this before?
Female: Vanilla bean?
Male: First of all, I'm going to start by slicing in half and then you’ve got these lovely little black beans in there and they're kind of looking at, okay. So you open it up and it looks to me, it’s like black gold. It’s like the spiced version of caviar because like when you look at it, it’s black.
Female: Wow.
Male: You see that?
Female: It’s amazing.
Male: Now that’s the vanilla beans, or the seeds of it. So that goes in but you know, I don’t really want to waste. I’ll just spend a couple of bucks on some vanilla beans so just throw that in there as well. Other that I want you to do one over here, so what we’re going to do is just run your knife along it and just pop the rest of the stuff in there.
Female: Alright, I'll try to make you proud here.
Male: Yeah, good stuff. Give that a stir.
Female: How’s that?
Male: Fantastic and just put it on the side. And it goes.
Female: Okay.
Male: Okay, that’s just going to simmer away. Not boil because you don’t burn all the alcohol, because we want to start off the happy holidays with the merry, merry, merriness.
Well it’s a fantastic mulled wine you’d be making. Take a glass of that, and taste it.
Female: Delicious.
Male: I'm black there.
Female: Well my thing is going tradition is you cheers.
