Monarchy designer Eric Kim gives Hollyscoop special tour of Warehouse

Diana Madison: This is my spot. This is where what I like we’ll pick go and that.

Eric Kim: This is as you can tell like any creative junky it’s a mess and it’s chaotic and we clean it up every new season.

Diana Madison: This is a must have item for women for fall, right for the Holidays?

Erick Kim: Absolutely. It is been one of our hottest sellers. It’s a warm gray motorcycle jacket, it’s a lambskin and it’s just got a very nice warm tone to it and this is the Adam Lambert one where he wore on American idol and the cover of People magazine and so forth.

You know a lot of people like I said they don’t know what branded it because it doesn’t say it anywhere on the jacket. It’s a Kellan Lutz piece that he wore to the fashion show I mean he’s been shot in People magazine, lifted on Vegan leather is what we call it. It’s a plodder, it’s not true leather, and it gives it that coloration. You could give that great burgundy out there a bit. It’s kind of like a Cordova, but it’s for that guy that are kind of that organic, global environmental friendly and that’s kind of where we got that idea because we had a fashion show that we did that was green friendly. People might think, okay you got your regular pop jacket, what people don’t realize is it’s an actual skin. That’s a mesh to water proof but you could see through it and there’s a plod underneath it.

Diana Madison: There’s a great item for the Holidays.

Erick Kim: This is a great item for the holidays. This is something for holiday, for Christmas and so we ‘re taking kind of your ski sweater and we put skulls in it, skulls and cross bones and this is when we’re creating something entirely new. So this is a completely new, a new shirt it’s not — there’s nothing on the market like it. No one has ever developed anything like it. What we did is we took soothing materials which are cashmere’s and wools and so forth and we brought this and we’re going to bring this in for fall and holiday for 2010.

This is basically where all the creativity goes on and this is where graphics are designed. So if we need a graphic for wall venture or to our even a tag or a patch the graphic team out here will design it.

And this is where the designers are sitting. A lot of them are out right now, fine fabrications are out looking for their buttons and so forth. Some are actually out in China. This floor space was where we do all the layouts and have our mess room and this where our patterns are made and so this is where the fitting goes on and how things are tailored or how it’s going to fit.

This is where denim is created. This is where it’s actually duplicated. Denim is actually a design there from a paper standpoint go and sent off to our pattern maker. We fit it, design it and then this division actually constructs it, sews it up and gets it ready for wash techniques.

And as you can see all along, you could see all the different archives and genes and washes. It’s Italian denim and it’s coated, it’s got special coating to it, the wash is really expensive. It’s a novelty item as you can tell. It’s a motorcycle piece. It’s just a retro look to it. This is a great women’s color gift for the holidays I mean it’s a flannel. It’s trendy right now, this is something the color ways.

Diana Madison: Is it true you’re going to be opening a store anytime soon.

Eric Kim: That is true we are looking to possibly open by April, we have our brokers out right now looking for places. We’ve looked at the Robert scenario, the rural Dale, and so forth that are big, a multi door roll out. I mean it will probably roll out to 8 doors in all the big cities and beyond that, it will go global.
