Modern Living and Dining Room Makeover
Color Splash with David Bromstad
Don: David is on his way over to make over our living room/dining room and it’s going to be great to actually have a touch of his originality or technique is really what we need in this place.
David: Look at you guys, look how cute you are. What a handsome couple.
Don: Nice to meet you too.
David: Look you look like Vince Vaughn so this is the space, I love the chandelier.
Aimee: Thank you.
David: You love it too right because it’s always.
Aimee: Yeah, it’s my favorite piece.
David: Yeah that’s genius. How long have you guys been in the house?
Aimee: 2 years.
Don: Yeah it will be 2 years in February.
David: Very cool still newly weds to the house.
Aimee: Yeah and 3 years of marriage I guess so.
Don: A lot of work, the house needs a lot of work.
David: Tell me why I’m here.
Aimee: Because I don’t think it glows well. Obviously the walls are white and plain, I feel like there needs to be some sort of separation between the dining room and the living room.
David: So you want it to feel more like two rooms.
David: Let’s talk about style. We’re looking contemporary.
Aimee: Yes warm colors.
David: Now there’s a whole variety of warm colors. We have golds, reds, oranges, yellows.
Aimee: I don’t want the walls orange. Something that makes a statement but not too much of a statement.
Don: The one thing I hate the most is the fireplace. It really just kind of an eye sore and we need to build it up, build it out and make it really, really gorgeous.
Aimee: We just got the couch so that’s pretty much remains.
David: Perfect so the couch is staying.
Don: Couch is staying.
David: So dining area. Do you guys entertain a lot?
David: Because I only see 4 chairs so you probably said 6 and you make it find a round table that has a leaf and turn it into an old table. I’m really excited about this. It’s going to be really fun you have some really good pieces I’m taking my inspiration from that ware it’s awesome.
David: What do you think up there?
Aimee: Something fantastic.
David: Come and look.
Aimee: Oh my God.
Don: This is not my house.
Aimee: No, oh my god.
Don: This is phenomenal.
Aimee: I’m going to cry right now. I’m not kidding you.
David: In a good way I hope.
Don: This is amazing.
David: One thing you guys really didn’t have in here was a proper sized table and so we brought you actually this really large sized table that extends and folds in if you want to make it smaller. You can make it smaller. The 4 chairs that are the same in 2 really dramatic head chairs creates a lot of drama and you can even get over it can you.
Aimee: I know I can I’m serious and I’m like shaking right now it’s so amazing.
David: Alright so lets talk about the fireplace. What do you guys think of your choice?
Aimee: Oh it’s beautiful.
David: Danielle made an amazing job Ian and Danielle both worked on it. And then we took care of your piece that you already have over there and restructured it.
Don: Is that the same one?
David: It’s the same piece. Yeah we painted it black to match the table and just gave it a little bit of a funk factor with the five legs.
Pretty cool huh: it’s going to fit all your components.
Don: Thank you.
David: The dark brown wall bring a lot of drama to the space and the texture that we put on here with just the concentric squares is really cool, isn’t it. Giving a rug that has a lot of personality I think is really important.
Don: I like the table to we’ve been looking for something as round that keeps the—because everything was so square.
David: Exactly. Well I’m going to let you guys enjoy your amazing spaces.
