Police in Summerville, South Carolina were looking for a stolen cell phone, but they found -- a meth lab. WTAT explains.

“...deputies were called to the Economy Inn on Holiday Drive in Summerville for a report of stolen items. but when they arrived... they smelled an unusual odor coming from one of the rooms.”

Police said that smell was a “very strong urine odor” -- which is apparently a byproduct of the meth-cooking process. WCBD has more on the result of the officers’ findings.

“Summerville residents Kimberly Cox and Jeremy Hapsan are under arrest for the dangerous mixture of toxins, police say they were allegedly cooking here.”

Cox and Hopson were sent to the Berkely County Detention Center. WCIV reports police never found the missing cell phone. Another alleged meth lab recently caught fire in Summerville, killing several people including a four-year-old child. This time, the town is breathing easier. WCIV reports.

“With the help of the Summerville Fire-Department, hazardous chemicals were disposed by officials clad in suits similar to those worn by the astronauts on the first Apollo mission. [Police Captain John] Rogers said the fumes are toxic and extremely dangerous.”
