WWMT has the details .   “The diocese has set up an exorcist hotline to cope with the growing demand for assistance in dealing with potential cases of demonic possession.” For those wondering how the hotline works, the chief exorcist told an Italian website: “People in need can call and will be able to find a priest in the same area who doesn't have to travel too far." The Belfast Telegraph says the diocese’s lead exorcist knew of a fellow exorcist who saw up to 120 people a day. But the church is unsure as to why there has been an increase in the number of cases. “It’s not clear why the number of suspected possessions has risen so sharply. But [the chief exorcist] said that part of the increase might be explained by the rising numbers of parents having difficulty controlling disobedient teenagers." The chief exorcist says actual exorcisms are usually unnecessary. He told the BBC some parents are too quick to blame normal teen behavior on demons. “Often, parents call me saying that their son or daughter doesn't go to school, that they are taking drugs or rebelling. There's no demon there but, at the age of 18, young people don't want any more limitations. It's important to be able to discern the different situations.” So, how does one know if a person is possessed or just being unruly? Sky News lists a few warning signs that may warrant an exorcism. “Widely accepted signs of possession include speaking in unknown languages and demonstrating physical strength beyond one's ordinary capacity.”
