For the -- -- the status quo or on the on the verge of evolving and -- entirely new. I'm Scott Stein and this is a look at the Microsoft surface pro tablet. The high end version of what debuted in some ways last fall. With the Microsoft surface RT -- -- -- similar about Microsoft's take. On the surface pro -- is a lot more high and a lot more like a real computer because it is a real computer. Underneath is a core I five processor third generation Intel this four gigs of ram there's 64 gigabyte or 120 gigabyte SSD. And also you're not gonna be limited to RT style apps has a full windows eight operating system. And Intel HD 4000 graphics this is -- 99 -- 99 united -- configuration so it's not cheap. Keep in mind that price does not include the iconic. Really -- -- -- we associate with the surface which is the really cool keyboard cover. The touch cover where the type cover his of the very same covers network with the surface RT. Are not sold with the system if deprive -- for 119129. Each respectively. Honestly for going to get a surface. You're gonna get one of these and I would recommend. One with a 129. Type cover which has a pretty fantastic keyboard for its size and a little multi touch track pad right underneath. It -- magnetic -- Doesn't -- mostly. And it works about as well as any purple ever seen even those in the iPad world and it really one -- any keyboard covers I've I've ever experienced. It's really easy to use it's -- to -- with us now keep in mind kick stand on the back. Which comes out. Provides a laptop like experience. You can't technically put it on your lap in the same way I was able to -- type but it's really meant to stand on a table enough to get a little -- to the footprint here. When you cover this up. And use it. Kind of like an iPad or tablet becomes an all want -- it's a very portable and fun way to travel. Now the surface pro is heavier and thicker than the surface RT. It's a little under two pounds same paper -- construction here magnesium very solid feeling but there's also an additional -- around the -- -- -- hairline. -- in the back and you can hear fans inside that activate her softly if you hold your -- -- and it gets a little hot if you keep it down on a -- or something like that computer for awhile. I am now included -- this is it pressure sensitive -- the surface patent which comes attaches to the side here. In the very same mine magnetic port that's used for the SEC power. It's comfortable pen it's very useful for drawing and apps you don't get the keyboard but you do get the patent. Another thing you don't get is a full version of Microsoft Office what you do and surface RT. -- getting your basic suite of apps and the kind of pre -- set of stuff you'd find in a full windows eight laptop. Now is it worth the money well. I think that this is a fantastically designed package I think that it's a lot of fun to use this type cover or touch covers the case -- I think it definitely proves the point. The tablets can be used by computers. Especially when they peripherals that are this Smart but the prices so high when you look at the landscape you get an ultra book right now with similar specs for 800 or less. You can also get. In an alternative option which are these lower power processors inside tiny laptops. Much like the HP and VX two which includes a keyboard and -- track pad albeit running an atom processor. For about fifty. So you are paying up here for the extra processing power and the design. You might -- double hampered by the storage limitations here and the fact that airport limitations this -- one USB three point oh port. It also has a mini display port. And an SD card slot and that's pretty much it. There are few other nice design touches on the surface broke the AC adapter comes -- an extra USB port for charging external peripherals the same time clever. And this -- surface pro doesn't actually need one of these keyboard covers -- survive. In fact even though it's -- me -- buying just keep in mind you -- connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to this. And -- justice fine. Especially since it's got a built in kick stand in the back. But absolutely Microsoft has done the job in showing that tablets can be full computers to. I'm Scott Stein and that's a look at the Microsoft surface crowd coming up -- -- night.
