Jordan made waves earlier this week by jumping into the greatness debate involving LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, saying he’d call Kobe the best based on his number of titles. (Via Texas Cable News ) In his time, Jordan was known as one of the best trash talkers in all of sports. So his verbal jabs shouldn’t come as a surprise. But that’s not all: apparently Air Jordan has still got game. Charlotte Bobcats rookie and former No. 2 pick in the NBA draft Michael Kidd-Gilchrist told USA Today on Friday that MJ recently beat him in a game of one-on-one. He told the paper “It was hard for me. I lost. He’s the greatest man that ever played the game.” He added Jordan’s game is still great - even as he turns 50 on Sunday. Kidd-Gilchrist, on the other hand, is seven months away from turning 20. That means he was about three years old when Jordan was hooping it up in Space Jam. And while it may seem like the rookie intentionally tanking it against his boss is a definite possibility, Kidd-Gilchrist told CSN Houston that wasn’t the case, saying “I didn’t allow him to beat me. Because [he]’s my boss? Nah.” And there’s quite the trail of evidence pointing to something else: a comeback — as ridiculous as that might seem. For starters, Jordan recently said he’s trying to get down to his playing weight. And according to Yahoo! Sports , Jordan’s trainer has a program already in place and ready if Jordan decides to jump back into playing. And his trainer has all the confidence in the world in MJ, saying.... “I absolutely believe [Jordan] playing again at 50 is obtainable. Of course, things have been diminished [since he’s been] away from the game so long, but even with what’s diminished by age, by not playing, I still think he’s superior to a lot of the players out there now.” That superiority apparently is true, considering he allegedly beat one of the game’s bright young stars in Kidd-Gilchrist. And in Jordan’s 2009 Hall of Fame speech, he threatened to make a comeback at the age of 50. But a writer for CBS Sports says the odds we’ll actually see Jordan hit the hardwood again are basically nonexistent. “I doubt anybody is expecting Jordan to give up his ownership of the Bobcats just so he can prove he’s capable of lacing up his own sneakers at the age of 50 … But if he did, the internet would probably light itself on fire.”
