Hi, I'm Betty and welcome to Betty’s Kitchen. Today we’re making Memorial Day Onion Burgers. So, this something for you to do at your Pokka if you don’t have something already in mind, this a recipe that’s been around for a long time and you may have use it already maybe already back to mind if you haven’t use it for a while. What I have here is some ground beef and I'm not mixing the meat some people a little bit of ground turkey or something else with it but this is ground beef and it’s not as fat free as I normally use we’re going to be grilling this outside and I think our results will be better with some kind of ground beef that has a little with fat with I usually use.
What I'm going to add is some onion soup dip mix. Now you can get any brand that you want and you'll find that—you'll have two packets that comes inside for this amount of ground beef which is one and one-quarter pounds and there's nothing magic about fat I've just went on to the grocery this morning that size was more equivalent then the others. So I got the one and one-quarter pounds and I thought that would really be good for this one envelope. I think the normal recipe says the one envelope for one pound. So you could probably consider anywhere from one to one and half pounds of ground beef would be fine for one envelope. I wouldn’t want it to oniony so I think actually having a little more than one pound is going to be great.
And all you have to do really is mix that and just I'm going to making this to patties. Let me go ahead and mix this up and make them into patties. One thing I would like to say is before this are finish I think they're going to be maybe five with one or a quarter pound either quarter pounds there's that would be five and maybe the last two I might make them a little zippier by adding some barbeque sauce and you know my favorite is KC Masterpiece so I think I would probably add one tablespoon to what I have left after I make three normal burgers and then we’ll have two that are little zestier just for variety. So if you want to try that that’s an option to. So I'm going to go away and get my hand dirty here by making this into patties when you comeback we’ll be grilling.
This is the backyard of my home and what you're seeing right now in the distance is the university where my husband and I both taught that’s the Eastern Kentucky University, that’s my neighbors house and I'm coming around here to my grill and my husband that all of you have wanted to see this is Rick and show the hamburgers that are cooking. We got hamburgers on the way and we’ll turn some of those into cheese burgers and I need to rush inside and get everything else ready. So see you then.
So here he has our Memorial Day onion burgers and we have three of them these three that are strictly onion burgers and these two have the—this takes have barbeque sauce the KC Masterpiece Barbeque Sauce inside them so I'm going to get started here. This is typically what we would have but there's just the two of us today so there's not rematch of anything. I'm going to start with the hamburger rolled. This is the casserole and you have to spoon them yourself which I've already done.
It’s a nice big roll and it has very flavorful so I suggest use something like that and then I'm going to pick this one here. I'll shake up the excess fat, you know me I would love this with paper towel normally but not right now. And then let see I would like some mayo. I'll just put that there not big I'm using utensils to spread out my dressing and then put them back in the bottle so I just spread out like that. And then here we have lettuce take over that—how about really set this up very well let's go this way with it.
So my lettuce can go over here, this slices tomato like a large tomato large in circumference and then I've got some Swiss cheese and some Sharp Cheddar crepe style cheese so I think I'll take the Sharp Cheddar—I made this for my husband his request Portobello Mushrooms and onions that have been sautéed on the stove and this is about it for my burger so let me put that in place and then don’t—you should have that’s a treat for me to have some potato chips these are towel cooked and this chosen special for today.
Yesterday I made potato salad for all of you and this is what we have left so we’re having it from the second day I called that memorial day home style potato salad so are for me to room all these. Here I have baked beans and this is just having across between two types of beans that I've already given you, we did baked beans at one time bacon top baked beans and then we did a barbeque bean dike. So I've got all of these and then we're going to go over here for my drink.
Here I have some lemonade that has been put in the frozen mug it’s warmed up a little bit but you just put your mug in the freezer and then it’s all frosty and I'll carry this over to the table where I'm going to sit down and then I'll be coming back pour of this well maybe not I'll probably be full I've tried to eat this but in the afternoon this is on Betty’s Kitchen as chocolate turtle pizza dessert so I may remember the names I've get to this things but here we go and we’re ready for eating. Actually outside its beginning to rain a little bit so our cooked out is going to be eating inside.
