Matthew Williamson's 2010 Spring/Summer Collection
Hilary Alexander: I love Matthew Williamson's collection and I think that he understands that inside every woman there’s a little bit of a mug pie. We want the bride sparkle, we want the color, we want things that are fabulous and he really knows how to deal with that.
I think what he’s done for next spring summer is it’s not quite so boohoo. It’s not too floaty hippie-dippy. It’s much more structured. It’s much more fitted to the body. There’s a lot more tailoring but through his use of color and print and also the use of beading, he’s retained that slightly snake hippie boohoo kind of feel, but it is very sophisticated.
Matthew Williamson: I wanted to play with natural color and synthetic color. So, the acid lemon, and then the natural, the sun and then the stone and together in one collection, but I think those soft colors were really fresh for me, you know—vibrant chic colors.
I think it’s kind of a more polish silhouette, high-waisted and crock jackets, and a lot more structure than I would normally have in my collection. So you know a stronger, more powerful silhouette. I feel excited and relieved and glad the collections’ being shown.
