Most people wouldn’t look twice at a worm. While the creepy crawlers are common sights in our backyards, one worm in China has garnered quite a bit of attention.

The worm was found in the gutter of a home, but its measurements were shocking. It was half of a meter, or more than 1.5 feet long!

A man, who is also a Forestry Bureau employee noticed the worm while placing dates in his backyard. He stated, “It looked like a snake, I looked carefully and found it was actually a huge earthworm”. He has decided to keep the worm as a pet, raising it in his backyard. Biologists are hoping to examine the worm and determine how it got so big.

Another worm made headlines earlier this year. An elderly man, living in a suburb of Mumbai was suffering from pain in his eye and experienced some twitching for weeks. Doctors discovered a 5 inch living worm inside his body, moving under his eye. The worm had ventured from the intestine and up through the bloodstream.
