It’s no secret that law enforcement officials are cracking down on drivers’ cell phone usage.

Apparently those rules don’t just pertain to motorized vehicles one unsuspecting man recently found out. Ross Gundry was fined $250 for operating a horse-drawn carriage while gabbing on a cell phone near Perth, Australia. Gundry, who runs Swan Valley Wagon Trails, claimed he was shocked after receiving the fine.

He states “I’ve been operating all over Perth for more than 25 years and I’ve always used my mobile phone, believing that a horse-drawn vehicle was OK”.

According to the officer, the law had changed in the past year, pertaining to include all vehicles, not just motorized ones. Although he only travels at a maximum speed of five kilometers an hour, Gundry’s lawyer states that he may be stuck paying the fine.

Several years ago, another horse operator got into some trouble. She was allegedly directing traffic, while sitting on a horse intoxicated.
