Welcome back here at the CNET stage I'm Donald bell at CES 2013 and I am joined him. I've read -- here co-founder and CEO of make about industries and yesterday you guys announced unique about rebel catered to. -- -- Tell me about your new 3-D printer. So we -- this one yesterday so this is our fourth generation of maker about. And the kind of break it down the -- of our applicator to. Is single distributor. And 3-D Brenner optimize use of material popular. Which is the renewable bio plastic that's made from corn. Now -- yesterday we unveiled the replicated to acts for extreme -- for experimental -- well. A much better through its its strategy to leverage in Italy treat him on the top of mountain area jumping out of airplanes -- -- project. But it's kind of like that actually because it -- that the reputed to excuse the material called -- BS which is a little bit fussy -- material and we made. We optimize the machines that you can be successful with that. But it's really set up for the doc brown -- types like you know if you've built the chemistry from scratch. -- -- -- -- That that the eighty S setting go up to eleven some counseling you can really feel that -- the power yes you can print your own style that got -- I know that there are still people out there who really. Haven't gotten had a round 3-D printing the Wyatt did that it -- who's using -- -- you can selling these now. For a good 23 years how long has made about the telling me about this is our fourth year -- reached at harvest there and -- they're worthless the F the first few rare here revealed we were like. So -- and people that you just sent -- here. And that you were -- -- in the duties that we were in the the Newton and there way back under and who's really taken up the Atlantic about some kind of -- -- your biggest market. -- the kind of -- for such -- Tell people at three provisions to -- still science fiction for a lot of people and basically giving -- -- TV printing I give a virtual document on your computer and you turn into a physical document. With three -- you have a virtual three model. You turn into a you know physical three model and -- that a player by other. And then take it out and you have your thing you -- You give her name you know. -- And so. What's so we've got these three new 3-D printers that reliance and then we've also got some other stuff we've got we updated our software so it's more. Feature rich and then we have launched a thing on the universe which is our place for both their library where people share downloadable digital with arms. We launched an API which allows developers to make things that just for -- we made an application on them and I -- -- -- customizing. And lets you go on there and create things that makes it it makes a really simple to make things -- like there's the iPhone case and you literally choose what kind of iPhone you have. And you choose what kind of shapes you wanna have and how much they overlap and -- that things are going to be and you can make -- custom. Geometric who it. Patterns geometric pattern iPhone case what's really cool -- and let's let's -- -- he's optimistic that things have been made by enemy so this is one of my. I'm into your -- -- -- you know I've had like thirty cars -- only two of them were worth more thousand dollars us that a lot of time under the -- of old cars. And this is a V6 Ford engine block imports -- as the model for this and this is actually the model. For a four V6 engine blocks though. To scale down at the turn out a few more pieces to get the whole car eventually that's doing its business but it's really -- can see where that where the oil goes and then there's a separate system for the coolant and it's all there are so. In some ways this is an education and how an engine works is printing now. And this is -- actually at medium resolution which is still really nice and then this is actually were making this right now it's just starting. This is a sculpture of staff of sculpture and this is pretty -- and printed in our highest resolution -- hundred micrometer size. And you can we tell the difference in the the feel. A -- that resolution on this little statue -- -- such a way and that and that engine block this has tablet sat me. Finish that's been there that's -- -- kind of feel the steps as of things -- -- And then which and you -- he also -- this little set you can live in this house. Pet food that you miniature furniture is -- this -- furniture made by Tom Casey Holdren. -- -- -- does set designer in new York and her sense or on Broadway. And in the old days used to design starts with -- Cardboard and exact -- knives and Hulu. And you still blood everywhere and process right America's got a few -- -- and -- to go through them statute designed them on her computer and then. Make the monitor -- but takes them into the director and they talk about stuff. And -- and because of this is done this for a lot of shows just got all this period furniture. For like -- -- Victorian furniture and I'm not sure. Really kind of like classic furniture for different players up from where bins full of old Victorian miniature furniture -- -- on top of being set designer -- -- the got a side business where she felt this to. Doll house the business so. It's one of the things that when -- make about operator you think about okay I'm gonna make these things in the world in the people one of the problem does make more. I mostly hear you talking about creative professionals people -- in kind of different craft the professions or hobbies but there is also that. That sense that what's exciting about this technology -- at CES the study may be that step. Towards this future of printing out your own gadgets -- words somehow a cooperative. Process of you know the next. IPhone come out comes out in some parallel universe its pseudo open source and you can print out the -- -- it needs. By the chips from Apple or something like that right it's there there's this idea. That may be 3-D printing is going to replace the conventional distribution. Gadgets. So at our core maker but is an innovation company and then -- schools -- we innovate. So that you can innovate. And our core audiences. Is you know. Engineers. Industrial designers architects and it professionals to use -- but then there's this whole other level people who. Just wanna live in the future and so they get -- there -- a teacher or an apparent and they just get one of these that they can be ready for what happens next. And those people. They don't necessarily have to design and export -- -- -- -- design. Whatever weird thing they can imagine. And you know traditionally if you're gonna come up with -- on a product you have to think about you know selling -- -- tan or a 100000 people with a maker values that make for yourself. There's all sorts of wonderful things -- papers every day and it's. And that are that are coming out. And it's and it will Wear -- inflection point -- no it's never been a better time to be a creative. Maker in the world. With the maker but you can make stuff just. Straight out your head what used to take a month is enough to model -- in a particular hours so that whole process of innovation. You can didn't rate much faster so you can do a lot more you can try things -- a lot more before you. Major files. But -- -- -- get to this idea of of home production -- of an incentive. And that the printer analogy. Instead of you know having to go down and have years. You know making copies and -- menu -- machine you can print out at home now. And eaten the same way here you can instead of having to go and buy an iPhone case you can print -- at home or -- miniature furniture. Is there. Is there. Does it stop it -- to. Classics as their way that this is technologies that you can come down the -- team. Them mother boards via computer and 3-D printing food as I've I've producing -- mentioning today. Is that it is there another step to this that gets towards the whole gadget. What's so -- is that were at the beginning of the next industrial revolution and we put this power and people's hands. And they're gonna do both wonderfully innovative. And totally absurd things with it and in many ways of certain things are really close to innovative things because -- you make -- -- -- Stupid because you can. You learn a little bit. But something different about what's possible that if you are really focused on -- traditional applications so. We're gonna see just the massive blossoming in the coming years as more more people get these in their hands and it just becomes normal to -- about it super excited about it. -- thank you so much for joining us today -- --
