Hi! This is Amy and welcome to Eating Low. Today we’re going to be making something I call Kitchen Sink Fried Rice and it’s not really rice because that’s off limits but we’re going to use a bunch of different things to make something that’s sort of like fried rice.
So I’ve got my cabbage and this is what is going to be our rice and I'm just going to grab a little handful. You could also use cauliflower, chopped into really small kind of rice like pieces. I'm also going to grab in—I had some left over celery that’s starting to get all like floppy so that’s going to go in here. And this is a lot of veggies as you can see I don’t have any vegetables or salad for lunch so I’ll just throw all in here. I’m having one of this thing and I then I also got some cut up garlic and some cut up-ginger. I'm going to put all that in here and I’m also going to add just a little bit of soy sauce because that is fried rice and sort of have a soy sauce flavor. And then as I can reach we’re going to put in a little bit of the spice, spice powder that I've used in so many other recipes and bring them everyone to come out.
Okay so I got a little bit of garlic there, I'm going to get spatula and just stir fry this around and while this is cooking I also want to add just this frozen shrimp that I used, I think processed it a little by running it under cool water and then I cut off all the little tail that they all had. Cut off all those and I’m just going dump those in because they’re still a little bit cold. They haven't completely defrosted yet. So I'm going to let this stir fry and then I’ll come back and show you what we’re going to do next.
The reason I’m calling this fried rice instead of like stir fried is that we can add a little bit of egg beater to it and not a lot just a little bit to get kind of a fish mixed in their. So I’m just going to add probably like one or two. You put in one or two eggs, it’s not very much. I put all my shrimps and vegetable on this side and then the egg is on this side and I’m just going to like kind of move it around, it’s some of the soy sauce and stuff on it that’s fine, that’s good. This is all going to end up mixed up together at the end and I’m just letting it cooked and kind of getting it all cooked.
I'm also kind of chopping it into little pieces as I go just to make it easier when I go to blend everything together. And before you get all this, I also make kind of my hot mustard with the ground mustard powder and some water and I’m going to add that on top of this, you could do that if you want it’s not really necessary, I just like the spiciness.
So my eggs are cooked and my veggies are cooked and now I’m just can mix it all together and they’re like blended in. You can also add crush-shredded pepper and maybe some salt and pepper to it if you want. You really can add almost anything you want to this because it is a kitchen sink fried rice.
I’m going to dump it out on my plate. You can see it’s not quite in amount because there’s not that much egg in it. It’s also not a stir fry because its got the egg in it too so it’s a big mix of different things, stir those before adding and let’s serve. I’m just going to get those all in there. I love the garlic, mustard and water mix together to make the hot mustard. You're going to take sharpen like use it to get it all off the plate.
So mix that all in and take a bite and see what it tastes like. It’s good. It kind of taste like the egg roll because it’s the same basic ingredients but, it’s really good. With the eggs and the veggies you can use as much as or as many veggies as you want, you can leave them out if you don’t want them. You can also do this with chicken and even beef, I don’t really handle beef so I’m not going to attempt that one but I'm sure it’s nice. So there you go.
