Well, welcome back to Pro Photo Insights. I apologize for holding the microphone in my hand and looking a bit of a wily but I’ve got a few points from the wind noise on my last video and it was pretty awful so I’m still looking into a better way of doing this and so when I hold it in this episode and see if that is some any better.
Well, we’ve had a couple of episodes where we have been in a field so as a tree I thought you have been back to one and tonight we’re in this lovely field here and what’s left in the barn in the background and which caught my eye the other day. I thought this can be done and dos some no lights have thought free again.
And the reason I’ve covering this again is the first episode, we did some with the star trails and the color to the video then was upholding. I’m not saying it’s a lot better but hopefully it has and so there’s also been lot of discussions on the forum of light about this sort of thing so I put mine in front to come out and do a bit more. I put my million kinds of tool shot with me again tonight so we’ll thought I’ll go easy on that.
I’ve got my image and everything and this side of the building is really interesting since it got this nice wooden frames and you can see I was inside the building but the other side is actually, I think will create a nicer composition speaking of cleaner image. This lovely tree in the background is a bit more clear on that side so I’m permitting eventually and do one of these side if I can so we’re going to give that a go and I’ve also got my little strap on head torch and again look at that with that one as well but it’s very useful and hopefully it will save me for never breaking my neck.
Okay, I wanted to come back with my lapel. I want to show you this torch. This is the torch that we’re using. It’s a million candle torch and fantastic, hand a little bit of care. I just want to switch on for you so you can have a look.
I’ve also bought a bag. Now, just gone under so this is my homage to watch this tool, nobody used this. We’re going to put the torch inside the bag and this will helpfully, just help us diffuse the lighting from the torch and just to soften it a little bit.
So we’ll get that a go and we’ll just still wait into the light and drop this down there so hopefully I’m going to try this in video of the actual light painting as well but I don’t know how well it’s going to show up and I think it’s just going to be pretty dark but we’d give it a go.
Okay, I’ve tried just tried some shots with the bag on. I think it’s going to be bit too diffused so we’re going to take that off again now and try some without the bag and see what we get. I’m not sure how this was picking up on the camera but I’ll leave it running. I will see what we get.
Well, welcome back and we’re now in Adobe Camera Raw and here’s my short list of images that I’ve shot and I did see we had a little bit fun here. We didn’t get chance to go on inside the building. I have my hands quite full just doing this in the end so we didn’t get any shot to this side but I think this works really well because we page the results.
You’ll see here in my camera shots, I did what I always avoided to do. If you do this whole thing, I mentioned before in the end of video we did on this type of work is that the light painting is going to be very unique on every image you do so once you know and this I’ll see from the great bunches of digital, once you know you’ve got really good lit image with the torch, you can then maybe just start to use make exposures just to get the sky correct and that’s what they see all here.
I did some exposures for that in light painting because I knew I had something to like painting shots here and here and here and so I decided well, if I don’t get the light painting on the sky in one image, what I always do, as long as the camera’s locked down in the same focal length and then it changes, I get always, always, it would be a straight forward job but it always results to stripping the other sky in the starlight sky into the shot. So again, it’s all about having options overdue and fortunately we’ve got a great shot here, this one I picked at and this is the one we’re going to work with and we wanted to get everything we need to the new one shot.
