Dan Hernandez: Standing next to me is Sham. He's the captain and owner of the New Salmon Queen boat we're on today and we had a great time fishing out here today, Sham. There was a lot of fun.
Sham: Yeah.
Dan Hernandez: But can you give our viewers this week's tip of the week?
Sham: Well, basically we've been fishing this area for the lingcod and they've been really chopping on the live bait. Using three way gear depending on the current and waves we use up to a pound of weight. But just using the medium light rod with a light weight single anchovy, a single anchovy. That's how we've been catching a lot of fish on iron, the big rubber. It hasn't been working at all. It's just been live bait. That's been pretty much all season long so far.
Dan Hernandez: Three-ways swivel, I seen that used a quite a bit up here.
Sham: It's like a dropper. It's basically --
Dan Hernandez: Modified dropper.
Sham: Exactly!
Dan Hernandez: But you use the three-way, because where the sinker you want to a lighter line that brings away.
Sham: Oh! That's basically -- those three-ways are basically designed for when we used fish the bay for the stripers on the reeves and stuff. You always want that dropper to be a lighter line. So that's why they use that or swivel.
Dan Hernandez: I saw it happen quite a few times today where people got hung up in rocks, the thing is broke off, and they still captured fish.
Sham: Right, exactly and that's what that's for. That's exactly what that's for.
Dan Hernandez: Well, thanks a lot for being here on our show. That was a great tip
Sham: Okay.
Dan Hernandez: Now we've been out here before, I had a great time. This is a great ship. I can't wait to come back next time.
Sham: Alright, maybe we can get something albacore next time.
Dan Hernandez: Okay. We'll try that.
Sham: Alright!
Dan Hernandez: Well, I am Dan Hernandez and this is skipper Sham, and all of you people out here with us here today. I hope you enjoyed this week's episode of sport fishing and I hope you join us again next week as we go looking for more of the best in Sport Fishing.
