(Image Source: Universal Republic Records ) BY CHRISTIAN BRYANT Fans of Lil Wayne breathed a temporary sigh of relief Friday after learning that the rap icon was reportedly recovering from violent seizures. It was initially reported that Lil Wayne — whose real name is Dwayne Carter — suffered multiple seizures Tuesday while shooting a video in Los Angeles for Nicki Minaj’s song “High School.” (Via YouTube / LilWayneVEVO ) TMZ later said the 30-year-old Wayne was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical center to be treated that night. Carter was said to have been released on Wednesday, but suffered more seizures. TMZ reported Wayne was in critical condition Friday and might have used unsafe amounts of codeine cough syrup Wednesday night. Most recently, the source tweeted Wayne was being read his last rites. That tweet has since been deleted. But reports on Carter’s health have been cluttered, at best. Two people close to the rapper said “Wayne is alive and well” and he’ll “be home soon.” (Via The Huffington Post ) And then there was this tweet from Weezy’s personal Twitter account. MTV reported back in October that Wayne had an in-flight medical scare when he suffered “seizure-like symptoms.” Carter later opened-up to MTV saying he was taking medicine to prevent seizures and was on a strict doctor-recommended regimen. There’s still no official word on Wayne’s health. The rapper plans to release his 10th studio album “I Am Not A Human Being II” on March 26.
