New video has emerged reportedly showing a group of men removing the body of American Ambassador Chris Stevens from the American consulate after it came under siege in Libya last week. Question is, are the men in the video assailants or not?

 

The shaky and dimly-lit video that runs just more than a minute was posted to YouTube on Sunday. It shows several men moving a man’s motionless body through a window.

 

But Breitbart.com wonders if those men are there to help or harm. They point to a few different takes on the video.  



“Various tipsters have offered differing interpretations of what they hear and witness on this video. The shouts of ‘Allauha Akbar’ are clearly heard and many assume that the cry is meant as a celebration of the attack on the consulate and Amb. Stevens.”

 

According to the New York Times, however, the men showed “no ill will” toward the fallen ambassador
and were celebrating the fact that he was alive at the moment. Their translation reads...

 

“The man is alive. Move out of the way”
“Just bring him out, man.”
“Move, move, he is still alive!”
“Alive, Alive! God is great.”

 

But Powerline agrees with the take that the men are celebrating the attack and adds …

 

“... there is a sickening credibility to the poster’s claim that what we are seeing here is Ambassador Stevens being dragged from the ‘safe house’ that turned out to be unsafe and, as far as I can tell, undefended.”



Meanwhile, other graphic photos have been published in recent days showing the ambassador’s body and causing editors to defend their decisions. In response to reader complaints the Globe and Mail Public Editor had this to say about publishing photos of Stevens...

 

“While the image was without question upsetting and disturbing, it was not graphic. The most interesting aspect of this photograph is the fact that at least four Libyan civilians, perhaps neighbours or perhaps demonstrators, jumped in to help Ambassador Stevens and to try to carry him to safety. That shows the complexity of this story and the humanity on the part of some at the demonstration.”



Stevens reportedly died of severe asphyxiation.
