Hi! I am Peter Awando from Water-Flow Gutter Solutions. Today I am going to be showing you how to clean your gutters.
In this segment, I will demonstrate to you how to set up your ladder to be able to go up and clean your gutters. One of the most important thing while setting up a ladder is safety. This is a basic ladder that you find in a general store or even at your house and what you want to do in the beginning, make sure you are able to handle the ladder, you are able to hold it very effectively.
So while setting up the ladder, you have got to make sure you set it up gently and in a very perfect angle to start cleaning your gutters. The reason you want to do that very gently, you don't want to damage your gutter in any way, because if you do that it's just an extra cost.
The other thing you want to do after setting up the ladder like this, you want to make sure that the base of the ladder is very strong and very secure, it's not shaking. Another thing you can do is if you see that the ladder is very shaky at the bottom, you can have a friend or somebody close-by come and foot the ladder for you. They stand on top of the gutter. What happens when they do that, it gives it more stability, it doesn't shake or move in any direction.
And the other key thing which is a very essential thing that you need to make sure while setting up a ladder is the high you set up the ladder the further from the building you want to set the base. This gives it more stability. Of course you don't want your ladder to be very straight up neither you want it to be so tilted away.
So the angle from the base of the ladder to the building is supposed to be very, very appropriate, that makes it very safe for everything you do. So while setting up the ladder, you want to give it an angle, that's almost 45 degrees. A 45 degree angle will give it a nice level for you to be able to go up easily and to be able to go down easily.
If you put it too wide, like I am demonstrating right now you have a risk of the ladder sliding down and getting off your feet. On the other flip side if you put your ladder in a way that it is too stiff, you risk the chance of while going up the ladder, the ladder flipping up on you. And finally another very important thing to make sure is while the ladder rests on the gutter you want to make sure it's very safe, it's not tilting to the left or to the right. This will make it very safe for you, so when you go up you don't stand a chance or risk a chance of swinging both ways.
That is how you effectively set up a ladder in a safe manner. And now in the next segment I am going to show you and demonstrate to you how you clean the area around the Downspout. Let's get going.
