Female: You don’t normally think of fall as the time to be planting. But now is when we put in the bulbs for our daffodils and tulips that will blossom next spring.
Male: We’re going to plant daffodils here between the perennials which is fine because they’ll bloom and fade long before the perennials come back. All we have to do is make sure we keep away from roots of the perennials.
When planting a bulb, you want to dig down the recommended distance for that particular bulb usually somewhere between four to eight inches. Then you want to dust in some bulb food on the bottom of the hole to mix that in the hole well so.
Female: You have to be careful when you plant the bulb be cause you can get it upside down without realizing it. This side has to go up. You can see where the stem is beginning to emerge from the bulb. If you plant it upside down, the flower won’t have a chance. And on this other side, you can see where the roots will emerge.
After determining which side goes up, just prop it in the hole and cover it up. Then you want to water it thoroughly and just keep it moist until the ground freezes.
