The ethnically mixed communities of Muslims and Croat’s have traditionally lived together in peace, until a majority of the people in Bosnia voted for independence denying Serbia its plans for a newly formed Yugoslavia. The decisions sparked a war from the inside by its Serbian habitants and from the outside by private Serb armies already notorious for their ruthlessness in Croatia and ever since the European community and the United States recognize Bosnia’s statehood, the fighting has intensified. The Serbian’s attack ethnically mixed towns with the large Croat and Muslim forces in terms of preventing them from linking strongholds. Innocent civilians suffered, this surprise attacks have left many people homeless. As in Croatia, Serbian troops appear to be picking off one town after another.
