Hi! I am Kim Oser. I am a Certified Professional Organizer and the owner of Put It Away! Professional Organizing. Today we are going over setting up an organized Home-Office. We have now got your filing system set up, so let set up your tax files so that you have a stress-free tax season.
When I am setting up my files for taxes, I use blue folders for all my tax documents. I have a general folder for tax documents all the 1099s, the W2s that you get from the bank, from mortgage company and your employer. But if they come in in January, they just get tossed directly into my tax document folder. I also keep a file for charitable donations, education expense and medical expenses.
Since I am self-employed and I run the business from home, I also have all the break-up of all the items that I included on the Schedule C from the IRS, so that as these expenses come in throughout the year, I can drop the files directly into the folders. So when it comes the time to do my taxes, I can either pull out all my folders and put them in a computer-based tax software or I can take out all my folders and hand the information over to my accountant, so your taxes are done easily and stress free.
So now that we have got all of our files setup and we are going to have a stress-free tax season, let's talk about organizing our supply drawer.
