If you’re searching for a kitchen floor that’s environmentally friendly, look no more. Now, there are separate green products available. These include bamboo, cork and linoleum that are right linoleum. The old standby that fitted in to the sun set decades ago is back in action. The fact that its green is only part of its popular appeal, besides being natural product made form linseed and plant materials linoleum is also water resistant, easy to clean and comfortable under foot. Unlike its predecessor which has a rather dated appearance and limited palette today’s linoleum offers many choices and vibrant colors and design possibilities plus linoleum is still available in both sheets and tiles. The fact that the color runs throughout the top layer is also a big plus because scratches are less likely to show. If you are looking for a wood floor but our concerned about harvesting mature hardwood trees than bamboo and cork are just the ticket. Take bamboo who would think the seemingly lightweight woody grass would be one of the strongest wood floors around. Yet this fast growing regenerating plant has the tinsel strength of the steel. This makes for a highly durable kitchen floor that resists swelling and construction which changes in humidity. The flooring is pre finish and engineer with tong in grove joints just like standard solid wood. Along with the bamboo cork is another green flooring that has some special qualities. It comes from the cork oak tree that flourishes in the Mediterranean and the cork is actually from the outer bark of the tree. This bark is carefully stripped away by hand without harm to the tree which grows new cork bark all over again. What makes corks such a unique flooring material is it cellular honey cone structure that gives a caution like feel under foot absorbing vibrations and sound. If dented or press by heels its natural elasticity allows it to spring back. Cork comes in pre finish tiles in a range of colors and patterns. The tiles had a natural non slip surface that makes an ideal for wet areas like kitchen floors. You don’t need to be environmentally minded to see that remarkable benefits of cork, bamboo and linoleum. They are comfort, durability and visual design options make them stunning alternatives to traditional flooring.
