Lauryn Hill once won the Emmy Awards spoke as a solo artist and with her involvement with the Fugees. Now she got a lot of music and record producing tones as well and as member of the Fugees when they released the album Blunted on Reality, it didn’t really live up to the publics expectations nor the record labels. However their follow up album The Score went to multi platinum in several countries and they became instantly internationally known. In 1998, Lauryn Hill and the Dub findings solo success with the release of her album The mis-education of Lauryn Hill, the first single of the album, Doo Wop that thing reached the number one spot in the US of 98 and it earned her 11 nominations at the 99 Grammy awards.
It even went as far as beating Madonna in the album of the year category, as Lauryn Hill won for her solo album over Madonna’s Ray of Light. Hill is also humanitarian, in 1996, she received the Essence Award for her support with several projects. Now she’s helped out the refugee project which was also founded in 96 and it supports two week over night camp that had a system for youth who are at risk. And she also supports a well building project all over Kenya and Uganda.
