Hi! I’m Andy Robinson, the Landscape Renovator. If you have large tree to prune, you might want to get a professional, preferably a certified arborist. But if you only have a few branches to prune, let me show you how to take care of that. First of all what you want to do is you want to take your branch. Come out about a foot and a half. Make a cut underneath. Now halfway through it, you want to come up beyond it, 3-4 inches beyond it, and then make your cut downward. There it goes, it is a beautiful thing. What that does is make sure that the bark does not going to peel back to the trunk. That’s not a good thing. You want to come back here and find our branch collar. It’s the small ring her and we will be going to do a flush cut just on the outside of it, the tree will heal itself. Another great Landscape Renovator tip.
