(Image Source: Louisiana State Police )   BY DAN KENNEDY ANCHOR JASMINE BAILEY   Residents of a small Louisiana town are evacuating their homes as authorities hustle to secure nearly six million pounds of nearby gunpowder. CNN reports on the incident affecting the town of Doyline. “The M6 powder was found at Camp Minden. Operation is now underway to move the improperly stored powder to authorized storage facilities on the same site.” Authorities found the gunpowder during a recent follow-up inspection after an October explosion at Explo Systems -- a munitions dismantling facility at Camp Minden. Here’s KTBS . “An above-ground bunker leased by Explo Systems was the site of this explosion. And last week, authorities found this -- the company improperly storing nearly six million pounds. That is now a new estimate of smokeless black powder.” According to CNN, workers have safely stored nearly one million pounds of the gunpowder. That’s enough to fill twenty-seven 18-wheelers. Meanwhile, an attorney has filed a first lawsuit against Explo Systems. KSLA has the details . “It seeks damages for expenses caused by those needing to evacuate along with the inconvenience of property damage. Robinson says the last claim is for the expected loss in property values for properties near the facility.” Doyline has about 800 residents. According to NBC News , scenes from the popular HBO series “True Blood” were filmed there.
