Remodeling an old kitchen like this can be fun especially if you think creatively. Now, for example, this particular kitchen, we are going to put in brand new cabinets and, counter tops, and sink, and a dishwasher, because this old, old kitchen had the traditional sink in front of the window. It had this little peninsula counter top. But now, it is time to think modern.
Let us go ahead and put in a nice corner sink. Let us make this peninsula into a bar top with some stools, and it is going to be as well. Six months have passed, and a lot of sweat equity, also, we put a little bit of dent in the homeowners checkbook and savings account. But look what we ended up with. We have got a magnificent kitchen. Here is the neat thing. We did not change the foot print at all but the kitchen looks a whole lot bigger.
There are couples of reasons why. Number one, we have got a light kitchen. The walls are kind of a light color. The cabinets are light. And the floor is light, but, we also made an opening. We changed the walls. We changed the kitchen. We opened it up to the living room, and we also closed an opening. We had lost the doorway that allows the kitchen to actually look more spacious. We have got four layers of lighting. We have got a trade ceiling that gives us an indirect lighting up above the main work area. We have got recessed lights that give good spot test lighting. We have got some beautiful decorative pictures over the bar area. And finally, some really neat accent lighting on the paddle fan.
But I will tell you what my favorite thing is. It is the corner kitchen sink. Remember the old sink. Well, you had to face away from everyone in the kitchen while you work with that sink, by rotating the sink just 90 degrees and installing a beautiful stainless steel corner sink. Now, you can actually face your guests and your family members when you work at the kitchen sink. I do not know about you but all these works made me thirsty.
