Kara Dioguardi Interview
Audra Lowe: When Paula Abdul left American Idol a lot of people thought the show just would not be the same but it’s actually bigger than ever and with all the changes Judge Kara Dioguardi is coming in to her own and she’s standing up to Simon, Rhiannon got her take on all things season nine.
Rhiannon: With her rookie season behind her, Kara Dioguardi is coming in to her own at the judges table on American Idol.
Kara Dioguardi: Last year there was such a learning curve. I’ve never been on television, I’d never judged kids in that manner and I just feel more myself and I’m able to concentrate more on the contestants and less about my own fears and I think that’s made a difference.
I have to say and I’m sorry to say it, it was the worst vocal that I’ve ever heard from you and possibly of the season.
The first time that you step on that stage to now, the progress is tremendous.
Male: She’s got a point.
Kara Dioguardi: I do. Don’t I?
Male: You do.
Kara Dioguardi: I cannot believe Simon to the left and Ellen to the right. I Mean I pinch myself.
Rhiannon: This season, it’s Ellen’s turn to be the newbie.
Ellen: You look stunning, you’ve never looked better, your hair looks great, you look beautiful and I am now going to turn over the music critique to Kara and Simon.
Kara Dioguardi: She’s great; I think she comes from the heart. She really loves music, she’s funny.
Rhiannon: Kara says, the season 9 finalists bring a new dynamic to Idol.
Kara Dioguardi: I think this year we’re seeing kind of was between singers and artist, people who really know who they are and people who are struggling to define that but have a voice.
Some of them are doing better than others and that is what makes for a great competition.
Rhiannon: But is KC her favorite? Who’s KC? Oh KC James.
Kara Dioguardi: KC walked in a very attractive guy. The first thing that you see but when he started playing and now as the competition is going on, he’s really proven that he’s viable. Not only is he a good singer, he’s a good guitar player and he has a lot of presence on that stage. I could see him making records.
Every week is new thing, it’s very unpredictable. You never know what the show and that’s why I think people tune in.
Rhiannon: For Better, I’m Rhiannon.
Audra Lowe: She’s a busy lady and Kara is also lending her face to a contest for Claritin users, the grand prize winner is going o get to be in a commercial and win $10,000, just head to our website for details.
